My Poppy Art 2019

Hello and welcome to my blog. This week we did poppy art. We painted the background using black and white paint.  Then we mixed some of the black and white to make grey. This activity is a fun thing to do because the work looked really effective and it also helped us to think about the soldiers who have died for us at war.

Our Place

Hello, welcome to my blog. For learning this week we did a West Coast slide. We did this to learn more about our place the West Coast of New Zealand.  I found this task interesting as I found out new information about my home.

Pumpkin Soup

This week on Friday the 5th of April we made pumpkin soup with our class. In 2018 me and my friends planted seeds in the school garden and one year later they grew into pumpkins. We harvested them last week to make the pumpkin soup. We got almost all of the ingredient from our school garden.
From our garden we got
8 onions
8 garlic bulbs
8 pumpkins

Then we went into the kitchen and started to make the soup in groups. Each group is responsible for teaching the next group what to do.When the soup is finished we are going to eat some and we are also going to gift some to some of our school neighbours to thank them for being great neighbours to us.

My opinion is that this is a great activity to do with our class we should do something like this again near the end of the year.

Road Safety

This week on Monday we went to a program about road safety.  The lessons were inside the trailer of a huge truck. We sat in the cab and beeped the horn. Inside we watched a TV clip.  In the clip we learnt what to do keep safe around trucks when we drive.

The important points were:

Wait for big trucks to come to a complete stop before going across a crossing.

Trucks have blind spots so try not go down where they can't see you.

Trucks need lots of space to turn so wait for them to turn before you do.

Waiho Bridge Washed Away

Image result for waiho bridge franz josefImage result for waiho bridge franz josefYesterday on the 26th of March the Waiho bridge on the West Coast washed away due to major flooding. This happened near Franz Josef the place where the glaciers are. Lots of tourists and people go to visit the glaciers.
My opinion is that it will cause lots of problems for the council as they will have to try and replace it quickly to get the road open.  It has been a temporary bridge for 25 years.

My Art

Hello welcome to my blog. This term we have been working on art.
This is how we created our art:

Step 1: We made a character online that resembled us then we printed all of them out.
Step 2: Our next step was to rule lines onto our A3 paper to make an enlargement grid.
Step 3: We got a pencil and we started to draw our characters. We had to enlarge them on to the paper. This took me about 3 afternoons.
Step 4: Once we finished drawing onto paper we went over the lines in sharpie.
Step 5: The next step was to paint them the same colour of your hair and eyes.
Step 6: The last step was to choose a colour background you like and stick it on.

I am pleased with my finished artwork as it looks a lot like my design.

Compass Poem Activity

Hello, this week I have been working on this poem. We chose an item from the story tin and then we had to make a poem about it. First we brainstormed heaps of words and then we put our favourite words onto notes. We had to put them in rows of 2,4,5,4, and 3 words. Then we put it on drawing. My poem was about a compass and the title is an anagram of the word compass.

I enjoyed this activity because it was easy to create and the items we could choose from were interesting.
