Compass Poem Activity

Hello, this week I have been working on this poem. We chose an item from the story tin and then we had to make a poem about it. First we brainstormed heaps of words and then we put our favourite words onto notes. We had to put them in rows of 2,4,5,4, and 3 words. Then we put it on drawing. My poem was about a compass and the title is an anagram of the word compass.

I enjoyed this activity because it was easy to create and the items we could choose from were interesting.

Our Day Trip to the Brunner Mine Site

Hello.  This week on Monday 18th we went to the Brunner Mine Site for a school trip. We learnt heaps out there.
One thing I learnt was that they also made coke from the little pieces of coal out there.  We saw the coke oven and where they used to make bricks.

After morning tea we dressed up as people being sad when the mine exploded for photos.  We also acted out scenes from the book "The Mine's Afire!" which is about the Brunner Mine Disaster in 1895.
We had lunch out there and then we went to the cemetery where most of the miners from the disaster were buried.

My favourite activity was going on the bush walk because i like walking in the bush and seeing the mine entrance for the coke and clay for the bricks.

Literacy Camp Reflection T1 W8

Hello this is my work on writing. It is my reflection about our class camp to Westport. You should read it and you can hear all about what we did on camp.  Next time on camp I would like to go to bed earlier so I can enjoy the activities more.
