Our Day Trip to the Brunner Mine Site

Hello.  This week on Monday 18th we went to the Brunner Mine Site for a school trip. We learnt heaps out there.
One thing I learnt was that they also made coke from the little pieces of coal out there.  We saw the coke oven and where they used to make bricks.

After morning tea we dressed up as people being sad when the mine exploded for photos.  We also acted out scenes from the book "The Mine's Afire!" which is about the Brunner Mine Disaster in 1895.
We had lunch out there and then we went to the cemetery where most of the miners from the disaster were buried.

My favourite activity was going on the bush walk because i like walking in the bush and seeing the mine entrance for the coke and clay for the bricks.

I like this reflection about our class trip to the Brunner Mine Site as you have included some of the activities we did and some photographs.
My favourite part of the trip was when we did the dressing up and posed for photographs using scenes from the book.
I wonder if next time you could tell us a little bit about the Mine Site itself so people from outside our area have a better understanding of what you are writing about.
What would you like to learn more about in follow up from this trip?
